OpenHands agents fill automation forms that can be saved and tested

Edited by Michael Ruescher

Canvas 1.27.0 (2026-10-12) adds a conversation beside the automation form: the agent fills fields, drafts persist and a draft can be test-run before creation. Use 1.27.1, which replaces the crash-looping 1.27.0 Docker image. This moves setup into the conversation while preserving a human decision about future work that runs as its creator. Hosted Cloud rollout timing is not established by the client tag.

What this changes for operators

  • Operators preparing recurring jobs: trial a persisted, testable draft on Canvas 1.27.1 instead of manually copying fields from chat. Review trigger, schedule, profile and test output before creating the automation, and confirm the creator is the intended execution identity.
  • Count setup and correction time alongside accepted runs before retiring a form-filling wrapper. Test saved-draft reload and a harmless scheduled run with the actual backend versions; those results would settle whether the handoff works on your stack. A UI tag alone does not prove Cloud delivery.
  • Preserve credential separation when enabling administration: do not solve form access by handing untrusted local agents the stack key. Use the separately signaled local-secret checks before giving these jobs sensitive credentials. The gain is less duplicate entry; the person still decides which repeated work deserves their authority.
